SSG Schaaf Steel Group

The origins of today's SSG Schaaf Steel Group  The history of the company dates back to 1921, when the company Eisenbahn Manig was founded. Just a few years later, in 1934, the company moved to its current headquarters in Dresdner Straße, where a glassworks had previously been located. This is one of the first important milestones in the company's history.
Another significant step followed in 1967 with the founding of Stahlbau Montabaur, a company specialising in steel construction. After the reunification of Germany, the company moved to its current location in Obere Illbach in Heiligenroth in 1990. This development enabled the company to expand and modernise its production capacities.

The Group continued to grow in the early 1990s. In 1992, the Lavis Engineering GmbH which was based in Halle (Saale). Just a few years later, in 1996, Lausitzer Steuer Ruhland GmbH was privatised by Rüdiger Schaaf, who would go on to run the company for decades to come.

KG, the former Stahlbau Montabaur, and also secured Lavis Engineering GmbH. These acquisitions significantly strengthened the company's expertise in the areas of steel construction and engineering.

The year 2014 brought a decisive reorientation when the SSG Schaaf Steel GmbH was founded. This further consolidated the company structure and laid the foundations for future growth. In the following years, the company increasingly diversified. In 2014, the WBW Wohnbau Westerwald GmbH in order to expand the business areas to include residential construction. Three years later, in 2017, the foundation of the SGM Stahlgittermastbau Brandenburg GmbH, This has further deepened our expertise in the area of steel structures.

The continuous growth continued in 2019 with the acquisition of the IBC Stahl und Anlagenbau GmbH further strengthened the Group's position as a leading provider in the industry. Another milestone was reached in 2021, when consolidated financial statements were presented for the first time under the SSG Schaaf Group. This consolidation of the various business divisions under one roof emphasised the Group's strategic focus and efficiency.

The SSG Group continued to expand in the years that followed. In 2024, the SPS Schaaf Parksysteme GmbH based in Ruhland, was founded to develop innovative solutions in the field of car park management. Just one year later, in 2025, the group of companies is expanded with the founding of SIM Schaaf Industriemontage GmbH expanded again.

Today, the Schaaf Steel Group stands for a strong and broad-based network of companies spanning several industries. With almost a hundred years of history and continuous innovation, the Group has established itself as a major player in the fields of steel construction, engineering services, residential construction and industrial projects. Through strategic expansion and continuous development, the SSG Group remains a dynamic company that is actively shaping the future.
